The 2008 Great Floridian Triathlon Waterstop in Clermont was a smashing success, with a record number of campers the Friday before, and a very smooth set-up and execution of the waterstop. Thanks to Joan Duggar, we also received $110 in sponsorship this year from local merchant vendors, including: Kim E.'s Flowers, Advanced Homescapes Specialty Painting/Themeing, the Somer Lake Cafe', and Sherwin-Williams Paint Stores Group. The volunteers were extremely appreciative of the donations, as we were able to support lunch and beverages for a full crew for a day that started at 7AM and didn't stop until Mark Prossick and Bryan Brinkley walked the last racer in after 2AM.

We would like to thank the many awesome Mad Dog volunteers who showed up, including: Bryan & Peggy Brinkley, Michelle Bushoven, Ethan Copping, Joan Duggar, Nick Godbey, Angela Hawkes, Maurice Kurtz, Michelle McGuire, Bob Moorehead, Barbara Towey, Doug Peterson, Gina Waters, Chris Steffen, The Prossick & The Smith families and Kristin Taylor. We would also like to thank Larry Yost for building the camp shower that kept us all fresh and ready to cheer on the racers! We also constructed a PVC sprinkler/mister that cooled the racers down as they ran through a "haunted" tunnel of tenting and spiderwebs.

Lastly, we would like to thank the City of Clermont, and CFT/Sommer Sports for providing support and for allowing us to use their beautiful lakeside park and facilities for a fantastic experience (as a note, camping is not normally permitted in the park, so this was a special annual treat for our fun-loving triathletes).

Next year's race will be help on October 23, 2010! You know you'll have the support of your fellow Mad Dogs, so why not adjust your training calendar accordingly?
